Characterization of Cement Stabilized Pavement Layers with Ultrasound Testing

چکیده
Original scientific papers Performance of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) in hydraulically bound mixtures is examined as a non-destructive testing, in order to estimate its potential for pavement material characterization. Test results show that an increase in cement content results in an increase in UPV values. Increase in steel slag aggregate content results in a decrease in UPV values. Analyses of relationship between UPV values and strengths have shown strong polynomial relationship. For UPV values ranging 2 ÷ 3,2 km/s cement stabilized material can be classified as appropriate for usage in road construction. Test results have shown good potential for UPV measure as non-destructive method in cement stabilized material characterization.

Elastic properties of fly ash-stabilized mixes
Stabilized mixes are used in the construction of bearing layers in asphalt and concrete pavement structures. Two nondestructive methods: resonant frequency method and ultrasonic pulse velocity method, were used for estimation of elastic properties of fly ash-stabilized mixes. Stabilized mixes were designed containing sand from the river Drava and binder composed of different share of cement and...

This study demonstrates the use of Class F fly ash in combination with lime or lime kiln dust in the full depth reclamation (FDR) of asphalt pavements. FDR, in the context of this paper, is a process of pulverizing a predetermined amount of flexible pavement that is structurally deficient, blending it with chemical additives and water, and compacting it in place to construct a new stabilized ba...
متن کاملCharacterization of Cementitiously Stabilized Subgrades for Mechanistic-empirical Pavement Design
Pavements are vulnerable to subgrade layer performance because it acts as a foundation. Due to significant increase in truck traffic, pavement engineers are challenged to build more strong and long-lasting pavements. To increase the load-bearing capacity of pavements, subgrade layer is often stabilized with cementitious additives. Thus, an overall characterization of cementitiously stabilized s...
متن کاملThe Influence of Graphene Oxide on Mechanical Properties and Durability Increase of Concrete Pavement
Herein, the performance of graphene oxide (GO) in improving mechanical properties and subsequently reducing the permeability of cement composites used in concrete pavement, is studied. A polycarboxylate superplasticizer was used to improve the dispersion of GO flakes in the cement. The mechanical strength of graphene-cement nanocomposites containing 0.1–2 wt% GO and 0.5 wt% superplasticizer was...

The use of pervious concrete has been significantly considered in recent years. This consideration is due to the properties of pervious concrete in relating to the environmental sustainability that is utilized in the effective management of the runoff from rainfall. Coal extraction and rice husk obtained from milling, produces wastes that have no application and followed by environmental pollut...
